Seems to be the way of the world anymore.
I’m trying really hard to explain what I mean without sounding like a old geezer, but things just aren’t the way they used to be. Back in the day, people saved for the things they most wanted. They didn’t use credit with no care for tomorrow. People bought the things they could afford. They also ate what they could afford to eat.
What I mean by that statement is this…the popular state of mind has gotten us so used to getting what we want when we want it, that we have transferred that to food as well. Want a hamburger at midnight? Well, McDonald’s is open, so is Wendy’s, so are most grocery stores, for that matter. We’ve forgotten how to say “no” to that small child that still resides inside of each of us.
We really need to learn to “parent” ourselves better as an adult nation. We need to remember that just because we want something and are able to get it, that doesn’t mean that we should have it.
What we are doing is exchanging what we want most for what we want now.
Every decision you make will affect your future, whether it’s a financial one or a food-related one. Each decision matters.
Just because you can’t always get what you want doesn’t mean you won’t get no satisfaction.
